Furniture - Knoll®
In 1948 G.W.
Haworth launched Modern Products, a small manufacturer of custom
wood products. By 1954 Haworth began forays into manufacturing
movable office partitions, the predecessors of today's panel
systems. By 1971 Haworth introduced the Haworth Modern Office
Modules (MOM), offering the first acoustical panel and universal
panel hinge-thereby increasing the flexibility of modular office
systems.
Haworth in 1976 introduced Haworth ERA-I®, the
world's first prewired modular office furniture panel. According
to Haworth, it revolutionized office environments by enabling
users to access power where it was needed, without extension
cords or hard wiring.
By 1984 one million Haworth UniGroup® panels had been
installed. Two years later in 1986 Haworth introduced The Power
Base®, the industry's first eight-wire power system
with three dedicated circuits. Power Base enables users to
dedicate power to specific uses and reduces destructive
electrical interference.
1998 represented Haworth's 50-year anniversary of innovation.
